HistoryLightly Treading, Inc. was started in 1997 after its founder, Paul Kriescher, witnessed homes across the Front-Range were being built to achieve the lowest construction cost without engineered, economic analysis, or thought to the on-going cost in utility bills or environmental impact. Building on his Master’s Degree in Energy Analysis and Policy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Paul became certified as a HERs Home Energy Rater and recruited other certified Energy Raters to become part of the team at Lightly Treading. This team of energy analysts work today to provide knowledge to owners and occupants of new and existing homes and small buildings to optimize the performance, shrink the utility bills and reduce the environmental impact of those buildings. In February 2009 Lightly Treading began working with Xcel Energy as an exclusive partner in offering substantially discounted home energy audits for Xcel Energy customers throughout the state of Colorado. This partnership began as part of House Bill 1037’s mandate to direct public utilities to effectively reduce consumer energy demand for natural gas and electricity, and cut the generation of greenhouse gasses that threaten the wellbeing of our planet’s ecosystems and inhabitants. Lightly Treading has teamed up with auditors throughout the state to help meet the demand for audits outside of the Front Range.
